Shawn Lindsay also known as Painta. Arrived April 12 1988, grew up in Forestville MD. I have always had the ability to draw but was never serious about art. Not until I recieved an education on what was natural to me, is when I became serious about art.

Painting is my preferred media. I studied painting at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.

I find the women I paint attractive, most people do, and I use that as a way to grab the attention of the viewer. They’re regular woman: friends I’ve known and friends I’ve met through social networks. I use my subject as the starting point of my painting; getting down their likeness through nonlocal color. Their image comes to form through the strokes of the brushes, the scrape of the pallet knife, or straight from the paint tube. When I feel I have the likeness down, I let go of my commitment to the reference and start focusing on my vision. I start to experiment with color placement; thick and thin paint. I take the subject out of their environment and place them in a world that I create; a world they couldn’t have been in if I hadn’t painted it.
